The World of the Fatimids

From their seat in Cairo, the Fatimids – a dynasty at its height in the 10th and 11th centuries – established an empire with wide-reaching influence in the Mediterranean, Europe and Near East. Highlights from this collection of artifacts include marble reliefs on loan from the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo, plus rock crystal and ivory, as well as lusterware, an overglaze technique mastered during the period.

Visitors will also be treated to a tour of Cairo as it appeared a millennium ago, thanks to 360-degree virtual reality films.
